BP Historical Claims Data
Prior to the establishment of the independent Gulf Coast Claims Facility, which now administers the BP claims process for damages related to the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill, BP - as a responsible party, and pursuant to the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 - administered its own claims process. Beginning early in this response, BP provided daily reports on their claims process to the Federal government. A cumulative record of information received through this daily reporting is available here: BP Claims Dashboard Through August 23, 2010 (XLS, 572 KB).
The information made available here was developed, compiled, and shared by BP. It does not reflect any Federal government data or analysis.
The Administration consistently pushed BP to strengthen and streamline their claims process to ensure it better met the needs of impacted communities. At the President's request, BP committed $20 billion to a trust fund designed to provide compensation for damages incurred by individuals and businesses, as well as for certain government claims. BP continued to administer the claims process until control over the individual and business claims was transferred to the Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF) on August 23, 2010.
