The Operational Science Advisory Team (OSAT) was established at the Unified Area Command to provide information and analysis of the data collected by the Subsurface Monitoring Program to the Federal On-Scene Coordinator to inform the emergency response operations. 

The OSAT analyzed near-real time information and provided regular briefings to the Federal On-Scene Coordinator.   Below is the final summary report of the OSAT and links to the data analyzed in that report. 

This report includes an analysis of water and sediment samples which represent a subset of the data collected by the Subsurface Monitoring Program that is most relevant to the primary response questions addressed by the OSAT.

Two principal matrices (water and sediment) were evaluated with respect to the primary indicators (see below).  In addition, a range of qualitative observations were evaluated.  See the links below to access the provisional analytical chemistry results.  Additional data will be forthcoming.

Mapping and analytical chemistry results used in this report and throughout the Deepwater Horizon Spill Response are available in the on-line web mapping Emergency Response Management Application web site: www.GeoPlatform.gov/gulfresponse.  Select the interactive map option, click through the information pop-up page, and select the Zoom tab on the upper right hand portion of the main page to access bookmarked figures from the OSAT report.

All OSAT Report data queried from the EPA Scribe database are through 6 December 2010, with the exception of the toxicity data which are queried 8 December 2010.  All analytical output data should be considered provisional until the archive process is complete.  Data are provided for download in spreadsheet format below.

Dispersant (Disp):

Disp_all

Shows all sample numbers (sediment and water), dispersant analytes sampled for, and concentrations of each (detects and non-detects)

Disp_all_summary

Shows each individual sample ID, locations of each, sample date, zone (deepwater, nearshore, offshore), and matrix

Disp_detect

Shows all samples with detected concentrations of dispersant analytes

Disp_detect_summary

Shows sample numbers, locations, sample depth, sample dates, analyte count (number of analytes analyzed), and matrix

 

Deepwater (DW) Zone Sediment and Water by Analyte:

DW_PAH_sed

Shows the Chronic and Acute ratios for each individual PAH analyte detected in deepwater sediments, and the concentration of each PAH analyte detected in the sample.

PAH Ratios for Sediment and Water:

Sediment_All_Ratio

Includes the sums of all of the PAH chronic and acute ratios (from each detected analyte) for all sediment samples summed up, includes analyte counts (number of analytes analyzed for), sample number, location, sample date, and sample zone (nearshore, offshore, deepwater).

Sediment_Detect_Ratio

Includes the sums of all of the PAH chronic and acute ratios (from each detected analyte) for sediment samples with detected analytes summed up, includes analyte counts (number of analytes analyzed for), sample number, location, sample date, and sample zone (nearshore, offshore, deepwater).

Sediment_Exceed_Ratio

Includes the sums of all of the PAH chronic and acute ratios (from each detected analyte) for sediment samples with Chronic or Acute Exceedances (Sum =>0) summed up, includes analyte counts (number of analytes analyzed for), sample number, location, sample date, and sample zone (nearshore, offshore, deepwater).

Water_All_Ratio

Includes the sums of all of the PAH chronic and acute ratios (from each detected analyte) for all water samples summed up, includes analyte counts (number of analytes analyzed for), sample number, location, sample date, and sample zone (nearshore, offshore, deepwater).

Water_Detect_Ratio

Includes the sums of all of the PAH chronic and acute ratios (from each detected analyte) for water samples with detected analytes summed up, includes analyte counts (number of analytes analyzed for), sample number, location, sample date, and sample zone (nearshore, offshore, deepwater).

Water_Exceed_Ratio

Includes the sums of all of the PAH chronic and acute ratios (from each detected analyte) for Water samples with Chronic or Acute Exceedances (Sum =>0) summed up, includes analyte counts (number of analytes analyzed for), sample number, location, sample date, and sample zone (nearshore, offshore, deepwater).

Human Health (HH):

HH_All_Analytes

Shows all analytes analyzed for each sample and results. This table includes all PAH and BTEX analytes.

HH_All_Summary

Shows each sample number and analyte count (number analyzed for) for each.

HH_Detect_Analytes

Shows all PAH and BTEX analytes that were detected in each sample, and the results.

HH_Detect_Summary

Shows all samples with PAH and BTEX detected, and the number of analytes (analyte count)

HH_Exceed_Analytes

Shows the samples (none) that exceeded the human health benchmarks.
