Public Notice of Council Vote on Proposed FPL Amendment for Palm River Restoration Project Phase II, East McKay Bay Project

On March 17, 2017, the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Council (Council) issued a 30-day Federal Register notice for public comment on the proposed amendment to the Initial Funded Priorities List (FPL) for the Palm River Restoration Project Phase II, East McKay Bay Project (State of Florida Palm River restoration project). The Council is proposing to approve $768,680 in implementation funding for the State of Florida Palm River restoration project. The Council is also proposing to reallocate the $87,750 from the project planning activity in FPL Category 1 to project implementation. The total amount available for project implementation would be $856,430. These funds would be used for construction of three stormwater ponds, exotic vegetation removal, native planting, monitoring, management of exotic species, and maintenance of the culverts/stormwater ponds along the Palm River at the mouth of McKay Bay.  

The Public is encouraged to review this proposed amendment and provide comment prior to the close of the Federal Register Notice on April 17, 2017. In accordance with Section 4.3.3 of the Council’s Standard Operating Procedures, the Council is required to provide the public with seven days notice in advance of the Council’s vote to approve or disapprove this proposed amendment, via posting on www.restorethegulf.gov on April 12, 2017. The Council is planning on voting on this proposed amendment on April 19, 2017. Your public comments are important to inform this vote.
