RESTORE Council Votes to Amend Deer Island Beneficial Use Site and Marsh Restoration in Fish River and Oyster Bayou

The Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Council (Council) voted to amend its 2015 Initial Funded Priorities List (Initial FPL) to approve $2,250,089 in planning and implementation funding for Marsh Restoration in Fish River and Oyster Bay located in Alabama. Also included in this amendment are modifications to the location, size, and sponsor for the previously approved $3,000,000 in implementation funding for the Deer Island Beneficial Use Site located in Mississippi. 
 
Before voting on whether to approve funding, the Council published the FPL amendment for a 32-day public comment period beginning on June 24, 2021 and concluding at 11:59 pm (CST) on July 26, 2021. Comments were accepted via email and U.S. mail, noting mail must be postmarked by no later than July 26, 2021 to be included in this public comment period. The Council did not receive any comments by mail or digitally via email during the public comment period.
