Department of the Interior Secretary Mr. Ken Salazar and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Ms. Janet Napolitano formally directed the U.S. Coast Guard and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement to conduct a joint investigation into the Deepwater Horizon Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit explosion and loss of life on April 20, 2010.
